Whats New? ============================================================ Version 3.4.2 4th July 2005 =========================== NOTE: Upgrading from previous versions of software (i.e. v3.3.1 and below) without the data integrity improvements will result in the loss of all recorded data on the product. Warnings about this are given during the upgrade and there is an opportunity to abort the upgrade before data is lost. To avoid data loss, please archive all history before upgrading. Using 5000 Series Tools ============================================================ 2.1 Remote Viewer ------------------------------------------------------------ From the Start menu select Programs followed by Eurotherm, then Bridge 5000. When prompted for a Host name, enter the IP address of the instrument that is to be connected to the Bridge session. 2.2 PC Configuration Tool ------------------------------------------------------------ From the Start menu select Programs followed by Eurotherm, then Series 5000 Configuration Editor. If using the configuration editor for the first time it will be necessary to specify the instrument type prior to configuring the parameters. To do this select the 'Save/Restore' key followed by 'New'. Then from the drop down list select the desired instrument type. Alternatively if the software package is being used to edit a Configuration file then select 'Restore' and browse the PC for the desired file. 3. Uninstalling 5000 Series Tools ============================================================ 3.1 Uninstalling 5000 Series Tools ------------------------------------------------------------ To Uninstall 5000 Series Tools, simply select Start -> Programs -> Eurotherm -> Uninstall 5000 Series Tools. Alternatively you can Open Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel, select 5000 Series Tools, and press the Remove Button. 4. 5XXX Product Software Upgrade ============================================================ On this CD there are a number of directories below the System Software directory. The set fits onto four 1.44Mb floppies, or one 8Mb (or larger) PC Card. 4.1 Upgrading From Floppy Disk ------------------------------------------------------------ Browse to the CD, and select the Product Software folder. Within this folder are four sub-folders, with the following names: Disk1 Disk2 Disk3 Disk4 Copy the CONTENTS of each sub-folder onto four separate disks (NOT the directory itself). To install on your instrument, insert the first disk before powering up, and then follow any instructions on the display. 4.2 Upgrading From PC-Card ----------------------------------------------------------- Browse to the CD, and select the Product Software folder. Within this folder are four sub-folders, with the following names: Disk1 Disk2 Disk3 Disk4 Copy the sub-folders onto the root of the PC-Card. I.E. Once copied, the PC-Card root should display the four Disk folders. To install on your instrument, insert the card before powering up, and then follow any instructions on the display. NB. PCCard types known not to function: ATA Flash cards from Manufacturer Faiya , and old (circa 1995) Sandisk cards. 4.3 Important Note ------------------------------------------------------------ Some new features may not be enabled following an upgrade. Following power-up, check the config/options menu, for the presence of the autoconfigure button. If it is displayed this will need to be pressed to enable the features detailed on that page. Also Options are now enabled via Key Codes, these must be obtained from the factory. 5. Windows 95, 98 and ME Users ============================================================ Windows 95, 98 and Me are no longer supported by 5000 Series Tools. This means that these operating systems will not be tested for compatibility and any problems encountered using these operating systems may not be fixed. Below is a list of known issues, with fixes where applicable: 5.1 Security Manager Fix ------------------------------------------------------------ Security Manager: For Security Manager to work with Windows 95, 98 or ME you must alter the Autoexec.bat file as follows: 1. Find the Autoexec.bat file (usually in C:\) 2. Open Autoexec.bat in Notepad 3. Find the Line beginning: SET Path= 4. Find the section: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Eurotherm Shared and add a " to the start and end of the section. 5. This section should now look like this: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Eurotherm Shared" 6. Save the file and Restart. 5.2 Review Annotation Fix ------------------------------------------------------------ Review: For annotation to work with Windows 95, or 98, you must alter the Autoexec.bat file as follows: 1.
