
5000 to 6000... The Migration Path
The 6000 series recorder has been designed with ease of transition in mind. They offer significant upgrades in performance and connectivity while maintaining the form, fit, and function of thier predecessor.
Easy Installation
- The 6000 has the same panel cutout size as 5000.
- The 6000 uses the same rear connectors (terminal strips) as 5000.
- The 6180A has reduced depth compared to the 5180V
Easy Configuration
- 5000 configuration files can be loaded into any 6000 instrument.
- Any 5000 model (5180V, 5100V, 5100e, 5000B)
- Any 5000 software level
Easy User Screens
- Any 5000 User Screen can be loaded into any 6000 instrument.
Easy PC Tools
- You will need to upgrade to the latest versions of Bridge and Review software to work with 6000s.
- The latest version of Bridge will work with 6000s and versions of 5000s later than V1.8 instrument software
- The latest version of Review will work with all 5000s and 6000s (4000s and 394 as well)
Easy Operation
- If you can operate a 5000, you can operate a 6000 - no additional training should be required
- The menu structure and basic operations are the same
- New features in the 6000 have new menu options which have been implemented in the same style and format as the 5000.
Adaptable Software Options
- The 6000S use key codes to enable software options just like the 5000s.
- The codes have been greatly simplified to make reading and entering key codes easier to accomplish.
Adaptable Networking
- The 6000s use the same Ethernet protocols as the 5000s.
- Modbus TCP, SNTP
- This makes it easy to add 6000s to an existing network.
- The 6000s also offer DHCP to automatically obtain an IP address from a DHCP server.
- The serial comms on 6000 utilise the same protocols as 5000.
- The serial comms connector on 6000 is different than 5000.
- The 6000 can have two serial ports that use 9-pin D-type connectors.
- 5000 serial comms board used on of the option board slots.
- 6000 serial ports are software configurable to EIA232, 422, or 485.
