Report is a simple but extremely powerful Excel Add-in. Secure data files created by Eurotherm recorders can be directly accessed from a Review database using this package, without compromising the security of the primary files.

The Excel Add-in is designed for the widely used Microsoft Excel™ and used in such a way that a spreadsheet simply needs to be opened and a report is produced automatically.

Data acquired by a 5000/6000 Series recorder can be automatically transferred to a networked server. Review software (supplied as standard with the 5000/6000 Series instruments) can also be set to automatically fetch data from the recorders at a pre-defined time interval. Manual requests can be made if the latest, up to the minute, data is required. This data - which is in a secure format to protect from tampering – can then be accessed by the Report software allowing simple, no hassle, report generation from the latest plant floor information in seconds.

 
 

Report allows the user to create as many templates and styles as required. This provides different users or departments with the exact format of the process data to best meet their needs.

Any Eurotherm recorder data in a Review database can be accessed by Report. Once the data has been transferred to the Review database, data can be accessed by Report independently of the Review software. Report Excel Add-in is supplied on CD and works with Excel 97, 2000 or XP. The Add-in help file is also directly accessible from the Excel help system.

Report comes with a number of standard templates that can be used straight away or modified as required. Fully customized reports can be built to meet specific application needs.

The issue with paper chart data acquisition is that data for reports has to be painstakingly manually transferred to a spreadsheet. Digital Data Acquisition overcomes this issue, but introduces another. The amount of “data” that can be obtained today can be overwhelming. Although the data can be simply exported to a spreadsheet program such as Excel, the time consuming task of processing or ’massaging’ data still has to be preformed before any “INFORMATION” can be obtained.
This is the major problem with simple data acquisition, often little thought is given to how to convert the data into useful information.

AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED REPORTS
Eurotherm has produced a simple but extremely powerful Excel Add-in called “REPORT 5000”. Using the power of the readily available and well understood Microsoft program, Report 5000 uses customized macros for standard Excel such that the spreadsheet simply needs to be opened, and a report is produced automatically.

TURN DATA INTO INFORMATION
Report 5000 allows data obtained from 5000 series located on the factory floor, R&D laboratories, environmental monitoring, energy meters, remote plants and sites to be automatically converted to a standardized report using standard Windows Excel.
The system utilizes Eurotherm’s 5000 or 6000 Series of Data Management recorders. These recorders acquire data from any number of sources and will automatically archive the data to a secure database file held on an existing office Server.
Data from the paperless graphic recorders is automatically copied to the server by the Eurotherm REVIEW Archiving software package (supplied standard with the 5000 series recorders) running on the server, at a scheduled time, variable from 5 minutes to 1 month. Manual requests for data transfer can also be made at any time, to obtain up to the minute data. 5000 Series Data Manage Systems automatically store the data used by Report 5000
The REVIEW software automatically updates the single common database file containing all downloaded data, from all recorders being monitored by the program. The data is in an encrypted format providing users with the confidence that the data has not been corrupted.
Report 5000 simply acquires data from this automatically updated Database file, allowing reports to be generated from up to date information.
As all the acquired data is stored in a central location, it becomes a simple task for Report 5000 to generate reports on the output for the past day, week, month or year. Creating such as report is as easy as opening the Excel file, and inputting the required dates - the report is then automatically generated - always in the same format and available 24 hours a day.
Being fully customizable, Report 5000 allows creation of as many template styles and formats as required. This also allows different departments to generate reports in the format used by their department with data relevant to their needs, and all from the same central file of acquired data.

REPORT 5000 Software
A client continually monitors their reprocessing slag heap for environmental requirements. Reports to the EPA are required whenever a complaint is received from the residents in the area. As this is not a regular report, it is very time consuming to generate. A customized report developed with Report 5000 enables the client to simply open the Excel file, enter the report’s required start and end times, and the report is automatically generated. (This saves about 1 man day of work per report).
With this success, other departments in the company are looking to access the information for their departments. The quality department is developing another report for wastage from their processing plant, to assist in analyzing the plant performance (information that was previously too costly to analysis). One of their employees is reported to spend at least 4 hours a day on data analysis and reporting. Report 5000 has the potential to eliminate this work. The resulting savings in lost manhours will pay for the system hardware and software costs within 5 weeks of implementation.

The software is supplied on a CD and once installed on a PC running Windows 2000 or XP and seen as an Add-In within Microsoft Excel® workbooks.
